Paul Appeldorn, 2014 Inductee

Paul has been described as “the ultimate Fountain Hills volunteer, always looking for another way to make Fountain Hills a better place to live.” An active Kiwanian, he has co-chaired the Kiwanis Blood drive and collects “Kiwanis Kans” and sells them in Mesa in order to purchase shoes for kids in the “Hands across the Border” program. He is also an active volunteer with the town. He served on the Town’s “Make-A-Difference Day” committee, serves as a receptionist at the Town Hall front desk, is a frequent host for town events. The secretary of the Sonoran Conservancy, he is a trail builder and is a steward for hikes. He volunteers at the Library Association Book Store and participates in the Brainfood program that provides lunch food for children during the weekends. Also a busy volunteer outside the community, he serves meals at Paz de Cristo in Tempe, volunteers at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, volunteers for Habitat for Humanity in south Phoenix through the Lutheran Coalition and is active with the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. He was named the Town of Fountain HIlls Volunteer of the Year for 2014.
