Dan Foster, 2009 Inductee
An active volunteer in the community for more than 32 years at the time of his induction, Mr. Foster has logged more than 11,000 volunteer hours. Born in upstate New York, he is a combat veteran with 3-1/2 years of service in the South Pacific during World War II. His corporate career was in human relations. After retirement, he and wife Jean moved to Fountain Hills in 1973. His first volunteer effort was with the Fountain Hills Sheriff’s Posse. Then, as he puts it, “Things snowballed from there.” He has served as a volunteer and officer of Noon Kiwanis, the Fountain Hills Library Association, FH/Fort McDowell Cattleguard Alliance, FH Golden Eagle Foundation, FH Automobile Club, FH Men’s Club, FH Sister Cities Committee, FH Community Center Advisory Commission, FH Civic Association Board of Directors. He has also served in a volunteer capacity with the FH Neighborhood Property Owners Association, serves as an elder at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, is a council member of the FH School Mentoring Program, volunteers with the Fountain Hills Street Cleanup Program and is a docent at the River of Time Museum. He is also a member of the FH Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts.
