Roy Kinsey, 2005 Inductee
A passionate intensity for science, mountains, nature and family have propelled Mr. Kinsey’s involvement in his community of Fountain Hills. After a career of working in product development for Dupont Research, he and wife Bev moved to Arizona in 1971 and retired here in 1984. He has been an active member of the Fountain Hills Sheriff’s Posse, Noon Kiwanis Club, Fountain Hills & Lower Verde Valley Historical Society, McDowell Park Association and the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce. As president of the Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills and his involvement with the McDowell Park Association, he was asked to head up a task force to consider preserving the mountains. That lead to the establishment of the McDowell Mountain Preserve Commission, which he chaired. The whole concept of creating the Preserve started with the desire to preserve the view, and that was accomplished with the Town’s purchase of the highest land on the east side of the McDowell Mountains.
