Paul May, 2006 Inductee
Mr. May first became involved in the community as a volunteer fireman in 1973. He soon became active as a board member of the Fountain Hills Civic Association and was elected its president in 1976. He established the Miss Fountain Hills Pageant and he approached the developer about having the newly crowned winner and her attendants on a float sponsored by the community in the 1976 Fiesta Bowl Parade. “The City at the End of the Rainbow” won the best non-commercial entry division. He coordinated the community’s Fiesta Bowl Parade float entries that won awards every year through 1981. Several entries were altered and entered into the Scottsdale Parada del Sol and came away with Grand Prize awards. A member of the community 10th Anniversary Celebration Committee, Mr. May organized an all-Ford car show at Fountain Park. He convinced Ford executives to introduce two of its new models at the Fountain Hills show.
