Paul Nordin, 2006 Inductee (1951-2003)

The first Town Manager of Fountain Hills, Mr. Nordin served his community for 11 years before losing a two-year battle with lung cancer. A graduate of Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s in Public Administration, he held municipal positions in Provo, Utah, Topeka, Kan., Concordia, Kan. and Winfield, Kansas, before being hired as city manager in Benson, Ariz. in 1984. He was recognized as Business Leader of the Year in Benson in 1990. He was hired as The Town of Fountain Hills as its first full-time Town Manager in 1990. He rececived the Friend of the Association Award in recognition of the Outstanding Service to Local Governments from the Arizona Municipal Management Assistants Association in 1992. An adjunct instructor in the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University, he received the Excellence in Teaching Award in 1993 and 1994. He also received the Outstanding Faculty Award in 1993 and 1994. He also received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the College of Extended Education at ASU in 1995. He served eight years on the board of the Arizona City/County Management Association. In 2002, he was awarded the John D. (Jack) DeBolske Professional Excellence Award.
