Peter O’ Reilly, 2012 Inductee

Peter O’Reilly has been an active community member of the Verdes since he and his wife, Lea, purchased their home in Rio Verde in 1998. He was born and worked for most of his career in New York City. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in marketing management from St. John’s University and his Doctoral degree in strategic management and international business from Pace University. He retired from MetLife after a 30-year career where he was the chief procurement officer. He came out of retirement to serve as chief procurement officer for AmeriGroup in Virginia Beach. For over 10 years (2000-2011) he directed the nation-wide operations of the Institute of Supply Management’s Services Group and was responsible for developing yearly conferences and seminars. In 2011 Peter was the recipient of the Institute of Supply Management’s outstanding leadership and service award for guiding this professional organization. He continues to remain very active in his profession and regularly speaks at supply management conferences. For the past four years, Peter has directed the Verdes Summer Activities Program for Rio Verde and Tonto Verde. He served on both the Rio Verde Country Club’s House Committee (2007-2010) and Men’s Golf Association Committee (2008-2011). In 2006 he developed, and currently coordinates the Rio Verde Men’s Desert Drivers golf group. He was the facilitator for the Rio Verde Strategic Planning process from 2008 to 2010. Since 2006 he has chaired the St. John’s University Arizona Alumni Chapter. He is an active member of the Rio Verde Saddle Club. He has taught a variety of business courses for several years at both Arizona State University and Scottsdale Community College. He presently teaches marketing, management and supply chain management courses, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the greater Phoenix area.
