Jim Ulrikson, 2012 Inductee
Business, community service, education and religious leadership were inseparable to James Ulrikson. His very life was dedicated to serving others. The long-time pastor of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, he continued to teach Bible studies weekly and guide people of every age on their faith journey after his retirement. His jack of all trades experiences allowed him to respond to things as simple as fixing a leaky faucet for a parishioner to constructing a booth for the arts and crafts fair. He represented Fountain Hills with Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army. He was a walking embodiment of the Rotary slogan, “Service above Self.” As a charter member of the Fountain Hills Rotary, he earned the honor of “Rotarian of the Century” in 2005. He was a charter member of the Interfaith Ministries Alliance. Pastor Ulrikson spent 34 years serving Fountain Hills until his death in August 2011.
